Frequently Asked Questions

What is the role of the Property Owners Association (POA)?

The POA is responsible for managing and maintaining common areas, enforcing community rules and regulations, and collecting dues to fund shared expenses such as landscaping, security, and amenities.

A volunteer group of neighbors who are elected to make decisions regarding the administration, management and operations of matters pertaining to the neighborhood.

Can I make modifications to my property?

Forest Hills is a restricted community and by virtue of signing the property deed, binds all owners to the Deed Restrictions.  In accordance with the Deed Restrictions, property owners must submit plans for homes, changes to existing structures, the building or moving in of sheds, fences, garages, etc. prior to any large scale clearing or lot preparation by submitting an Application for a Building Permit to the Architectural Control Committee for approval.  Applications are also available from Eddie Bass, 409-698-6029, or Barbara Bass, Association President and in the Document Library of this website.  This requirement assures that the building lines, the property lines controlled by the Corps of Engineers, and the utility easements are observed and our community grows in an orderly fashion which ensures the owners maintain their property values.  The Architectural Control Committee is happy to help you with conforming to the building requirements.

How are neighborhood roads maintained?

In December of 1997, Jasper County accepted our roads into the county road system.  Money collected from a road assessment and a portion of funds from the annual dues was used to make a contribution to help pay for the resurfacing of our roads.  We continue to work with the county by observing load limits and by helping in the maintenance of the roads and culverts.

How are POA board members elected?

POA board members are typically elected by the community's homeowners. The election process, including nomination procedures and voting, is outlined in the POA's governing documents such as the Bylaws.  Property owners are encouraged to participate in the election process and consider serving on the board to contribute to the community's decision-making process.

How can I get involved in the POA?

There are several ways to get involved in the POA. You can attend board meetings, join committees or volunteer for community events. Additionally, you can run for a position on the board during elections. Active participation allows you to have a voice in shaping the community and fostering a sense of belonging. Our neighborhood only works through the volunteerism of the POA members such as keeping our roadways clean and decorating our community areas for holidays, so thank you for asking how you can help!
